The Working Family Resource Center (WFRC) delivers high quality wellness and family education to employees where they work, in order to strengthen individuals, families and communities.

The Working Family Resource Center (WFRC)is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization delivering work-life wellness and family education to one of the greatest assets of our communities – our workforce – to educate, strengthen and affirm working families while also improving workplace productivity and engagement.  WFRC works with communities and companies of all sizes and financial positions to deliver services at the worksite, where it is most convenient for employees, to support parents as their children’s first and most important teacher, and to build resiliency and affirm individuals in the multiple life roles they fulfill.

Did You Know
Studies show that successful parenting begins at the moment of birth. From the beginning, each childhood achievement – language and learning, social development, the emergence of self-regulation – occurs in the context of close relationships with others (Neurons to Neighborhoods, National Academy of Science, 2000).

Family life education at the worksite makes sense, since a high percentage of parents and caregivers are employed and feel challenged with managing the often competing demands of work and family responsibilities.

How To Make Shift Work Family Friendly

On Aug. 10, 2005, Vickie Underwood was nearing the end of her shift, overseeing the production run at a printing plant near Atlanta.

"At the time, I had been working at the plant for over 22 years with an unblemished work record," she says.

When she got off at 3 that afternoon, Underwood needed to hurry home to register her kids at two different schools and sign up the youngest for aftercare. Read more...
