GetSet! Navigating the Special Education Process Overview
This training is a brief one hour presentation on the special education IEP process. The goal of this presentation is to help participants have a better understanding of the process and learn their role in the development of the IEP. There is time for informal sharing and questions. This presentation is perfect for parents seeking a better understanding of the special education process.

GetSet! Addressing Problems – Finding Solutions
This one hour workshop is designed to give participants a better understanding of the formal and informal methods for addressing problems related to the Special Education Process and the IEP. The goal of this presentation is to help prepare participants with the information and tools to address issues as they arise.

Seminar Series 2

GetSet! GetSet! for Transition Overview
This brief one hour workshop is designed for parents of students ages 12-21. The presentation will give participants a basic understanding of the laws related to transition and the development of a transition IEP. Participants have a better understanding of the five major areas of transition and how these might be addressed on an IEP.

Guardianship Overview Workshop
This introductory workshop explores options for substitute decision-making and how to assess the need for a guardian and/or conservator.

Individual Seminars

Transitions! In Early Childhood
Transitions! is a short one-hour presentation for parents of preschool children receiving special education. This presentation helps parents understand key elements in the special education process and ways to prepare for their child’s transition to school based services. Parents will have an opportunity to address questions and concerns related to this important time in their child’s life.

Healthy Home, Healthy Child, Healthy Legacy
Thousands of chemicals are used in everyday products, but few have been adequately tested for the potential health effects on children. As exposure to chemicals has grown, so has concern about the link between chemicals and developmental disabilities. Learn how to reduce chemical exposure and protect your family’s health.

Accessing Programs and Services
Wondering what programs and services are available for your child with disabilities outside of the educational system? This workshop will help you navigate the many services for children with disabilities available through the government. Learn how to access county services, how to apply for services and how those services can benefit your child.

Encouraging Positive Behavior in Spirited Children
Develop a practical understanding of challenging behaviors and temperaments and learn about tools and techniques that encourage positive behavior in spirited children. The workshop will also discuss ways to address challenging behaviors in school. Bring your questions and concerns.
